Membership

We welcome new members. If you are new to model flying, our club members are happy to help you get started, including advice on selecting equipment, building aircraft, and learning to fly. We also have experienced instructors and club training aircraft available to assist new pilots.
Prospective members are welcome to visit the flying field on Saturdays or Sundays (weather permitting) to meet members and see the club in action. You can check the weather camera link on this website to see if members are currently at the field.

NSMAC Membership Fees
1 April 2026 – 31 March 2027
  • Senior – $125
  • Junior (under 26 as at 1 April 2026) – $35
  • Family – $140


Model Flying New Zealand (MFNZ) Membership and Fees
MFNZ membership is required to fly at our field.
If you are joining an MFNZ-affiliated club for the first time, and have not been a member of any MFNZ club in the past three years, your first year of MFNZ membership is free.
Otherwise, the following MFNZ fees apply:
1 April 2026 – 31 March 2027
  • Senior – $100
  • Junior (under 26) – Free
  • Family – $105
MFNZ membership includes public liability insurance while flying legally anywhere in New Zealand or Australia, and a quarterly magazine titled Model Flying World.

Total Annual Fees for 1 April 2026 – 31 March 2027 (NSMAC + MFNZ)
The totals below apply unless you qualify for free first-year MFNZ membership or have already paid your MFNZ membership through another club (proof required).
  • Senior – $225
  • Junior – $35
  • Family – $245


Reduced Fees for New Members
  • New members joining after 1st January 2026 pay full fees and will remain financial members through until 31 March 2027 (i.e. they will receive up to 3 months free membership).
  • New members joining after 1st October 2026 only need to pay 50% fees for the rest of the financial year to 31 March 2027.
